Phases

[This] was the first ever music cassette I ever brought. It was Devang Patel's parody songs in the movie, that drew me to it. The year was 1995. And I got hooked to music.

Two years of seriously following the Indi-pop scene followed. Alisha, Daler Mehendi and the likes filled my music rack.

The year was 1997 and [this] was my first ever English album. I hate admitting it. But it's true. Groan.

Two more years of BSBs, Boyzone and the likes followed. Groan.

It was November 1999 when [this] hit me so hard in the face, my life has never been the same again. Rock was here to stay.

Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Guns N Roses!

Oh! My! God! Music was religion and these guys? Gods! Absolute gods. Gods, whose every word, you lap up like there is nothing else in the world worth believing in.

It reached a stage where music becomes your recluse from everything worldly. A narcissistic one, perhaps. A place where sometimes, you try to forget. At other times, try to evoke. Sometimes, you pick up pearls of rare wisdom. And at other times, realising that it's so much better to just lose your head.

The New-age phase started in May 2003 when I got hooked on to [these] guys. Life wasn't very kind then and I could relate to every word that they said. I experienced a musical intensity I had not discovered before. These guys are very frequent on my Winamp playlist.

This night, I found [this] heavenly recluse.

The ghazal/sufi phase has officially begun. Viva la music!
